I started when i was 3 they make skates that strap right on a child's shoe Winchester skating has a few of these for rent but its probably best to buy your own there very inexpensive . I know of the walkers but Winchester skating doesn't have those.
Once they can walk with confidence and not fall down when going over cracks and bumps, they are ready. They also have devices similar to the walkers you see people with balance issues using to learn how to skate. Call Winchester Skating Rink to find out if these are available there.
