A scrapper will probably remove the deflection coil from any tube TV left on the curb too. Apparently they're worth a few bucks to free pickers
Your local trash pick up service would be happy to take the old set away. If it still works however, you could give it away to Goodwill or a friend that can use it. That way it will stay out of the landfill.
