We did not have a reservation. But we got to share a table with other people that didn't have a reservation so we made new friends. I think it's best if you do but it's not necessary.

Yes! We were turned away because we DIDN’T have one! The place was even empty. As in, there was only one table with people. I’m pretty sure the place wasn’t going to fill up with guests all at once. Then the “hostess” also said nowhere else in town would have availability without one either. Pretty crappy way to run a business, since I’m sure the majority of their income is from tourists.
Only been there for lunch, never a wait. The polenta is worth it if you do.
