How are the (hockey) skates? A few people told me that the venue is good, but the skates are so dull and the ice is so bad that it makes skating not fun, especially for experienced skaters. How does it compare to the Rothman rink at City Hall?

Around Christmas and New year's, a decent chunk if the skates will be dull. However, you can always go back to the rental booth and ask for another pair, or sharpen your own pair free of charge.

My wife is a junior level figure skater and thought the skates were super dull (wished she brought her own) but it is definitely better than the Rothman. I'm a terrible skater and I liked the hockey skates and didn't mind the ice. It's the kids you have to look out for.

The skates are not bad but the ice gets choppy pretty quickly. If you can skate around falling kids its a pretty good time.

We offer both hockey and figure skates. We regularly sharpen skates, but we also have thousands of people using them. The ice is resurfaced every 90m. If you're an experienced skater looking for the best skating conditions, it's better to come at an off peak time when there aren't as many people
