I have heard that spaying a puppy will make them a lot calmer.I am hoping this is true. Could you tell me if that's true?

A lot has to do with the breed. spaying/neutering can help with certain behaviors but is not a cure all. Sometimes being able to talk with someone who has the same breed helps put things in perspective. Some breeds mature young.... others take a couple of years to grow into maturity. My breed never matures completely...hahah...but i love her for the puppy behaviors....keeps me young!
