Do age appropriate things with a 5 year old. This isn't a fit.
It's a "Haunted House", most of them are meant to be scary, I wouldn't imagine this one was any different. Also, if that section of the house is interactive they will have a waiver for each "participant" to sign. And sometimes everyone can enjoy the section! The "Participants" will have a mark put on their hands that is only visible under certain lights, like inferred. But I haven't actually participated in the different areas of the house but I have worked with Haunted Houses for over 6 years of my wonderful life.
Paranormal is the most kid-friendly. It's still probably a little too intense for a 5 yr old. We thought about taking our 6 yr old, but we were glad we didn't. Even though she would have probably been ok, she wouldn't have really been able to contribute in any meaningful way. I'd recommend closer to 10 years as a minimum.
Some of the rooms have only clues and no actors actually in the rooms. I think it all depends on what you and your kiddos watch together.
Most of these are scary themed, as they are based in a haunted house. Depending on which one you do may vary how scary it gets. The escape rooms are amazing, but I would recommend doing a room that isnt scary if you are thinking of bringing children.
