It often depends on how good the weather is and how deep your interest in history is. I enjoyed walking around the prairie so I would allow at least half an hour 45 minutes for that; to watch the little movie in the visitors center and explore all the exhibits, I would allow 45 to 60 minutes. To travel over to the other part of the visitors center come I would allow at least another 30 minutes If there are Craftsman demonstrating skills such as quilting, cornhusking etc, allow at least several hours there are also picnic tables where you can eat. No food served there.
I would use about 2 hours at least.
I'd give yourself at least an hour and a half. There are a few sites that require either driving or walking (if the weather is nice the walk is pretty) to go from the main visitors center to the other visitors center and then the old school house.
Homestead has their annual celebration the weekend after father's day so plan a day then for pioneer oriented activities
Most of the tour is self-guided with audio available on your phone, so you set the pace. I personally would say at least 2 hours, if not longer.
Thanks so much!
