To get your medical card you need to see a licensed practitioner. Then register online and you will receive your card in the mail in about two weeks. You will be issued a temporary card right away and you're able to go to the dispensary right away. New York just legalized recreational cannabis so in about a year you'll be able to go to a dispensary and buy up to 3 oz of marijuana. As of right now you can grow up to three plants, have up to 3 oz on you, and you can smoke in public places right now that allow you to smoke.
