No it is dim but it is bright enough so you will not bump into anything. Fun place, check it out. If you are unsure, they have a small viewing area that you can see for yourself before buying a ticket.
Be sure to purchase a package it is cheaper than buying just one game.

It is not to dark that you can't see. There are diffused red green and blue area lights and your eyes adjust quickly
It is not that dark and it is best laser arena around whit two floors.
You can see things well. It is dark but not dark enough for you to fumble around blindly
