Not true. You just can't drive all the way back there. Can park at the gate and walk if you want. Great views but quite a walk down to the hooch. If you ask me, I would Kayak down then get out and explore at the Buck Shoals beach.

Always open but quite a hike. The shoals are beautiful and worth the work. But the hill to climb up once you've been down to the river is incredibly steep. Not for elderly or handicapped for sure. We had so much fun jumping from rock to rock all over the river😊 I really wish they would at least open the drive to the shoals...
