Beach area looks great! It was so nice to pull off there on our kayak trip!

It's never open. Sometimes I wonder if it wasn't purchased as a money laundering scheme.

Beautiful place with a lot of POTENTIAL...BUT!!! They make you park forever away from the lil river access beach/area. Making it impossible for handicapped individuals from enjoying the river. Or anyone for that matter. People pulled up and said they saw the park property for sale in an ad for 87k an acre. Maybe with that money build a parking lot down by the river and make some hammock hitching post. Like I said this place is amazing and full of potential if they make some changes. These places should cater to the taxpayers enjoyment and utilization.

This was my first time here. It is very peaceful and beautiful! The Google Maps directions had me turning onto Buck Shoals Drive. That road is closed (employee entrance only) and you would need to turn right onto River Rd to gain access to the public area - not too far up the road. I spent some time walking on a river access trail. I couldn't find any restrooms or picnic tables. It may be further than where I traveled to, or in the area that is blocked off. Anyway, I did take a few pics but not as much as I hoped to get. I still enjoyed my time there!

In the five years that we lived less than a mile from the gate, we only saw it open once. I'm not sure when you're allowed to hunt, but there is a parking lot off of River Road that has a trail and leads into the WMA. You may be able to hunt there depending on the season, but I'm not totally sure.
Not true. You just can't drive all the way back there. Can park at the gate and walk if you want. Great views but quite a walk down to the hooch. If you ask me, I would Kayak down then get out and explore at the Buck Shoals beach.
