You need to go there in person and look. Sometimes times people put live traps out to catch ferial cats. They then bring them there.
If someone found it and couldn't keep it, yes. Always check the pound on a daily basis when you have a lost pet. Going in person is better so you can actually see whether or not your pet is there.
If it's found they will. I'd go up there and look
