A Subaru SUV should be able to make it - we took a Toyota RAV4 and it made it just fine. There are only 5-6 actual campsites. Arriving at 4am on a weekday a few weeks ago, all the spots were taken. I believe camping along the road is not allowed, neither is car camping at the standard trailhead parking spots, although it's hard to tell how that is enforced. We arrive at 4am to hike, and there were still parking spots, but started filling up quickly as we started our hike.
Ruts, holes and bumps... yes you should make it. Was there on Sunday and there were lots of similar cars and less in the lot.. go slow and pick your path..
