You can buy only up to the amount your Doctor prescribes, in ⅛ or ¼ increments. My first Doctor prescribed 2 ounces per month for 3 months at a time. My new Dr. seems to think one ounce is more than enough for now, I can have more if I really feel I need it. Some Doctors are more serious about alternate treatments than others, It's a tossup. One thing I DID discover however, is that if you are using it in the making of edibles, the Doctor has to prescribe more because of how much more marijuana is required for edibles over smoking... Hope That Helps .. Great Question...
Go to their website and follow the links it directs you to on the state website. The amount your doctor approved per month is there. Usually it's the two ounce limit which is the max amount possible but sometimes less, particularly the first month or two. You can buy your monthly limit in one trip if you want though sometimes there's a limit per strain at the dispensary if it's a popular or rare strain.
