Smart casual is likely the correct answer. It is our favorite DC restaurant. Great cheese plate.
I like the previous comment of "smart casual". It's really not a fancy place, but most clientele is in town on business, so sleeveless shirt or baggy shorts are probably not going to look good.
Smart casual is the norm......though they won't turn you away in any "appropriate" attire.
