After a child receives First Holy Communion, they can get a sip of consecrated wine, which is now the Blood of Christ, along with the Host, which is now the Body of Christ, when they go forward for communion. It's not a drinking party. If there's more to it than this with your friend, this person, or a parent, needs to call the number posted on the church bulletin to report it. Your question has a typo in it, so I'm not sure if your friend is an altar server, or if you're saying they serve wine. So I'm answering as clearly as possible under the circumstances

Jeane Jackson is incorrect. It is not a metaphor, nor mere spiritual symbolism, to partake in the Mass; recipients of communion actually receive the Body of Christ under the accidents of bread and wine. This is a phenomenon called transubstantiation. Those who receive from the chalice are given only a sip, and no more. No one is obliged to receive from the chalice, and many just receive the host.
We receive the body and blood of Jesus , it is just a sip and only if you are a Catholic who has made the sacrament of communion are allowed to share. This is the center of the Catholic faith.
They do not serve wine bar style lol... It is part of the religion to take a holy Communion class at that age. It is accepting the body of Christ metaphorically and spiritually. There is something that is taught in class to receive it when everyone walks to have it. If the right words are not said they will sign the cross on your childs head and and may peace be with you. If he says the right words learned from thee class , it is only a sip out of a cup that everyone drinks from. Your kid will not be drunk. Not unless he finds access to the bottle... Lol.
Jeane Jackson and Shelly Fowler you both have incorrect information. Others, Sara A is correct.
A lot of churches do this but it's not wine... they use to serve that along time ago. It was changed out and substituted with Welch grape juice...
