I believe most of the items on display are either part of the permanent collection on lone from other parts of the Smithsonian, other museums and some from private collections ....so I somehow doubt it pays for items loaned for display...maybe the loaning of an item could be considered a tax deduction ...why not ask the Smithsonian institute
They do not. The artifacts are on loan or donated.
National Museum? Are you askimg if they paid the people or their families to display their things..?
