Well, senior metrocards have the name and photo of the owner. If there is no listed phone available for the owner, you can contact the senior metrocard office at Stone St in lower Manhattan. Maybe they can return it to the owner.
Unless the card has been purchased with a credit catd there is no way to trace who purchased it. That said, the MTA and or the credit card transaction processor would not give out personally identifiable information, such as name, address, etc. You're a good samaritan for trying, but the card is yours.
