They do not. I asked in-person and they don't take walk-ins same day. I insisted at one location if they could put me on the list anyway, but she said it would probably not happen that they'd call me in expect I might get scheduled out until the fall. You need to try in the early AM online for a same day appointment. Last I looked last week, the available appointments are out until late Nov or December. There's 100 or so appointments that the DPS puts out daily when the personnels get in for work between 0700-0705. Go to public.txdpsscheduler.com between that time-frame, and if you think you're out of luck, don't stop - keep trying in case any appointment times pop up before 0710 still. I found a few after 0705 twice. Long story short, I had made an appointment one day and couldn't get there, and the next day tried again and had luck with a much earlier appointment. Hope this helps.
