(We are Americans with expired passports.) What are the regulations for US citizens to cross to the Canadian side of the falls? How may US citizens drive on the Canadian side without passports?

You can get online & renew your passports very easily! However, we did not have time to do so & did NOT cross over... Currently, you can renew your passport for approximately $35 per person! I have a friend who said it covers Canada, Mexico & Jamaica etc... Just Google PASSPORTS to Canada & different options should pop up!

You need a passport or passport card

An enhanced license would be the next best way to get into Canada. If you don't have that you will need multiple ID's. Birth certificate, current license. maybe paycheck stub, copy of a utility bill maybe. Maybe social security card. Not 100 percent positive what other ID you could use.

If your state offers enhanced driver's licenses or IDs, those work. Otherwise, you will need a passport
