Your best bet is to purchase a O gauge train set, this gives you everything you need in one box. Price is around 300-400

You can pick up some nice stuff here for reasonable prices. I wouldn't go in there expecting to pick up a brand new $600 Loco for cheap, but they have a very good selection of second hand rolling stock and locomotives, plus you can buy track by the piece. You may have to clean it up a bit, but I'd almost guarantee you'll walk out with a full set for less than $250
