I plan to create treads for a boat. it will be four steps. each step is 14" wide and approx 20" long. What material would you recommend for this environment and is this material available in this width? thank you for responding

I agree... Teak, or maybe Mahogany. Again... Not cheap.

My recommendation is teak, but any harder wood with a finish could be good since you're walking on it. They have pretty wide boards and can cut them to any length for a cost. This probably won't be cheap.
