Yes. My Aussie enjoys the park. Regarding ticks, I've noted that ticks are bad in late spring and early summer. But, no worse than similar natural habits. Be sure to shower and take the normal tick precautions when you return home. Spray shoes, ankles, lower pant legs and seat of pants before taking to the trail during tick season. I also spray the top of a cap, which I ware, and the back of my neck and my shoulders. Do NOT use a DEET based repellent on your dog! I use a Eucalyptus based insect spray.
