There is little to no security regarding baggage checking when boarding the boat. I'm sure most of those rules is so that they're not liable if you lose them or if they break. I don't know about the bottle of wine though as they did have signs that prohibited glass.

Hi Elisabeth, We allow passengers to travel with items for personal use just not for wholesale or large quantities. Personal hygiene items, jewelry, makeup is allowed. We allow sealed alcohol such as wine to be brought onboard, but it cannot be consumed inside of our terminals or on our vessels.

The only thing I can say about that is I seen a lot of people with backpacks luggage and ice chest there is a size limit to the ice chest and I can't remember what it was but I didn't see anybody checking anything

No clue. I would check with them. We brought 2 bags on the regular ferry to get to the island, and they put them in the main cabin, but on the high-speed ferry back to the mainland, they were put in the hold under the ship.

I'd not bring glass anything on the boat unless carried on and kept closed naturally. If bringing foods follow protocol you would for restaurants as they sell food on board and would prefer selling some and wouldn't like to clean up your mess. It's approximately a 1 hour ride so this shouldn't be a huge concern, you won't starve while crossing. You can naturally take personal belongings such as jewelry and clothing but keep in mind that they have become more security conscious since 9/11. Don't make the mistake of walking away from your baggage and don't transport illegal substances so everything will go smoothly. Security is relaxed for the most part and everyone wants you to have a good time. I've attended concerts that were more paranoid and obtrusive about security so relax and live on island time! Enjoy your trip and think of it as an adventure.
