You may purchase any long guns from out of state. Handguns must be taken possession of in your home state (50 state rule). In Jersey, you must be in possession of a FID card even if the out of state dealer won’t ask to see it.
I am also from NJ. U would need a dealer in NJ to accept the transfer from PA then u can purchase in PA an they will ship it to the NJ dealer u have chosen to deal with.
I'm from NJ as well. David is correct and also, I think the firearm has to be transported to a NJ dealer with a FFL. Deuce's Den out of Sewell only charges 35$ for FFL transfer.
