No, but you will be more dapper if you do!
The standing tradition & dress attire calls for that, at least, yes. If you didn't meet the dress code you used to not be admitted, however, at our last visit, it appears tourists in their sporting gear are welcomed. It was such a disappointment to see tradition & dinning experience lost to tourism money.
It's old New Orleans. As a person that works in fine dining in the quarter, I'd suggest putting a coat on. Probably not required, but won't hurt.
No but they would prefer it
Tradition says we should dress accordingly meaning with jackets for men and classy for women. However with all the tourists, it just doesn't happen like it use too!
Coat good idea, dress for the added dining experience and the respect of the establishment
Not necessary, but I'm sure appreciated. They are trying to maintain an old school vibe, and it's a shame to see old customs die.
We went recently for the first time and dressed according to the dress code. My husband wore a sport coat. However, we saw many who didn't have coats and some people in jeans.
When I was there people came in sweat gear, so it doesn't seem like there is a standard anymore
I would suggest sport coats for the gentlemen.
It is more of a jacket-type of dining room than not.
Generally, yes. There are some occasions where business is slow and they'll let you in with less formal stuff on. But if you're wearing torn up clothes there's no way you're getting in.
No business casual is appropriate. When we were dining, there were customer s wearing shorts,t-shirts and sandals in the restaurant
