Does the shelter work as vet as well? Would I be able to bring a pet in to check if they are healthy?

Not that I'm aware of. They do take care of their own, but you'll probably need a regular vet or animal hospital for routine checkups and concerns.

DHA does have a vet. You can check the website for the hours for the community. They also offer many vaccination clinics at affordable prices.
