The reason they keep a toll on the bridge is to discourage black people from Queens from coming to Atlantic Beach and divert them to Far Rockaway.
They will never use ez passes.
It's not; or at least no time soon. Because they're avoiding the cost of entering a contract with EZ-Pass Inc & converting to a cashless toll plaza; as well as the backlash when frequent bridge users realize how much more they would be spending. (Example: EZ-Pass would cost $800+ more a year versus their decal for a Nassau resident that uses the bridge to commute to work everyday; and that's if the toll price doesn't increase.)
