Melissa You want to use Copper Sulfate to kill algae. Keep in mind that this will temporarily reduce the amount of oxygen in pond, so if you have fish-check with manufacturer to make sure of amount to use. Keep in mind that algae is growing due to food, sunlight, and oxygen levels. To reduce and maintain algae levels, you will need to evaluate the level of nitrates, and the level of a aeration in the pond. Applying Cooper Sulfate is a temporary fix for a pond that is not in proper balance. I am currently dealing with this issue in a 1/4 acre pond stocked with fish. Siye Baker Licensed Contractor
