I have never received bad service in person or on the phone. My guess is this person is quitting or having a bad day. Maybe he was reprimanded before the call.
I shop this particular Dollar Tree often and have always been treated with respect and employees always willing to help. I have found everyone there friendly. I can't help but feel the individual you spoke with was either having a bad day or doesn't want their job. You might consider speaking with management if the store is convenient for you.
Probably a kid there phones are more important than customer service
