I agree with Brandy..Dont approach a dog ypu dont know.. it might be best to call animal control first. I speak from expirence..My son and I was lost and stopped to ask directioms and this man came out of his house with a chow dog on a leash and let the dog smell us and said he didn't bite, took him off the leash and that dog acted like my son was lunch. He ripped his ear off, bit him all in ha head and back and a hole to the bone in his arm . I picked up my son's ear up off the sidewalk. It took 3 grown adults to get him off my son including the owner. He bit me all around my ankle area( where I was stomping him to stop biting my child. He bit through my aclies tendon so I couldn't walk for 6 weeks and my son had to have 4 reconstructive surgeries to make him an ear. He has scars today..He was 5 years old..it also onset juvenile diabetes from the trama. Oh, it turns out that my son was the 4th and 5th people this dog had bitten. Please use caution when approaching a any dog you dont know
You can take the dog to the SPCA if it's safe to do so. And they will take it. If it isn't safe, call animal control and they will take it.
