My Dr. ( Idler ) gave me specific exercises for my specific surgical situation. Most Dr.s want you to take the six weeks recovery period to heal inside and out before starting exercising. They do want you to immediately start walking slowly in the house then build up. Walk in the yard, walk down the street. FOLLOW UP with your dr.check up and let them know the progress. They will individualize a special therapy if needed, otherwise he will give a sheet of exercises to you to strengthen the muscles at home. Some are even able to be done on your bed. Doesn't hurt your back like a floor. Hope this helps. Otherwise, I had a spinal cord stimulator installed and it has been a slow recovery... Hope this helps!😊
If you have the determination to stick with it you can do it yourself. Dr will give you a list showing what you need to do. I have had five back surgeries and four knee surgeries and I did my own rehabilitation. Only thing was knee surgeon told me I was pushing myself to hard to fast. Not everyone can make themselves do it so you decide if you could do it or would you need someone to push you. It hurts but you have to do it.
