Pfeiffer beach you can drive to but some times it gets full quick but its worth the wait. We waited about 30 minutes before we could get down there but once you get down there its 12.00 dollars to park and yes they have purple sand on this beach. I have posted pics its amazing and worth the wait. Theres moonstone beach also they have large chuncks of jade but you have to dig for them. We got two hugh bags full.
There's so many but pfeiffer State Beach park is 2miles down the road, from Hwy 1, this is park and walk. $10.50 or $10.75. The rest of the Beaches you may have a hike to get to. There's over 40 miles of insane coastal beauty. Go to Parks and Recreation Ca.gov. I may have the web site wrong but you'll find it.
There are plenty of public accessible beaches in big Sur. Pfeiffer Beach is one of them.
