Needs a reno, but still a nice place considering the location, i dont Know any other beach side hotel that is better without paying more (and many of the more expensive ones are not any better or may even be worse). I lived in nmb for 9 years and just went back on vacation Easter weekend, staying at the best western. I only stayed on the weekend, so no buffet. Most if not all the hotels charge a fee at the beach, and there is a hotel specific locality tax as well. Call and ask, they will tell you.
I'm not sure what the total cost was, but I was very happy with the price I paid for what I got considering it was Easter weekend. There was a $43 dollar resort fee I wasn't expecting, but there again it was ocean side. The buffet was very good, very warm, and the servers were very accommodating. There was ham, gravy, eggs, hash browns, bagels, cream cheese, and the coffee was very good. Be reminded however there is no breakfast buffet on Sat. or Sun. and because of covid you cant help yourself.
Dont go there I can show you pictures of the actual rooms no buffet
