It will depend on the size of your party. Normally, they do not require reservations unless they are having a planned occasion like New Year's Eve, Valentine's, etc. However, if your party is over six, I would suggest you make reservations so the table will be set up when you arrive. The day before should be enough time to call or even the day of if you forget. I think you will be pleased with everything at Al's. If anyone in your party needs accommodations, The Jackson Park Inn is an elevator away. Their rooms are reasonably priced. The decor is much like Al's, modern with a studio loft feel. You will think you are in a large city.
It is very nice inside but not big. If I was you I would call for reservations just to be sure you get a table. With it being a phone call away, just call to ask about reserved seating Great food and very friendly service!
