Your smart will hook up to the internet, but not to the Infinity content.
I have a new xfinity box on my old tv in another room... just wondered if somehow I may be able to stream tv channels on the new smart tv without a box
Comcast requires a box. TVs do still have QAM (cable) tuners built in, but that's not the way your Xfinity works unfortunately.
I think you have to call Comcast and get a converter box because my dad lived in Illinois and he had to get a converter box and get the wires hooked up outside.
IDK for sure, but I'm pretty sure that if you want Comcast in your TV, you need some sort of box. You can try without, but don't think it will work.
I use to work for Comcast. Back in 2010 you had to have a converter box. Times has changed so you might not need a converter box. There is also Amazon fire sticks and other devices you can buy to stream tv shows, movies, ect. If anything contact Comcast and ask if there is a way to watch tv without a converter box. Hope this helped you out. Goodluck to ya.
Best buy has tech support. I suggest calling them to ask for their tech support to assist you with the internet connection.
