When we visited a couple of weeks back, their count was at around 2,000 which was the lowest of the season. One of the staff members mentioned that the peak was around Thanksgiving at about 14,000.
Most likely they will have gone by then. It's very close to Arroyo Grande tho, so it's worth the 5 minute drive to make sure. Because we had such a warm winter, most had gone by the time I arrived February 10. Make plans to visit this year, around end of October! Happy butterfly hunting!
I was there the weekend of the 10th. Still lots at that time. Try going late morning or early afternoon when it gets warm and before the wind picks up.
The Monarch Butterfly Grove is open till the end of February. They continue on their migration. There was 1,000 this last weekend. The docent said there are a few still around at times in March.
The season goes through February. That being said, you'll be in the area anyway so check it out. It's free. Maybe you'll see a few but the mass quantities will have moved on.
I visted for President's day weekend. I didn't see many butterflies.
I was just there and there are just a few (in comparison) compared to full season.
There aren't a lot right now. It's the end of the season. The season is Nov - Feb. There might still be a few by then.
There will be lot's of butterflies.
I'm not sure, your better off looking at that on there website sorry.
Feb is the best time i think
