Matt , first i didn't say my car was damaged & it's dark down there at night so people who don't know where the potholes are can damage their cars. In fact there is an area where there are so many deep potholes you can't avoid them unless you drive in the bike lane where people walk. I've seen people almost get hit cause people driving were trying to avoid these large holes. And by the way even if you go very slow into a deep pothole you can still damage your car.
The lakes are a disgrace! I wonder if mayor mc barstool will fix the roads at the lakes with the $300 million in surplus money? Or the money made from the cigarette tax? Total fu**in disgrace!
FDR is maintained by the Phila. Parks and Rec. Dept. I believe they get funding separately from the streets dept. which is who should be maintaining the roads. That being said, someone give me a couple hundo and I'll go fix the damn potholes myself. I cant ride my bike down there anymore and it breaks my balls.
fdr road is all now freshly paved as of august 2020, no more potholes, I live riding my bike here niw.
It is indeed a very interesting question. Well, it does not happen only in FDR Park, but also mostly on all around Philadelphia's, and greater Philadelphia's streets. It has been a dilemma. City and State uses snow salt during snowy weather. But on the other hand it can exacerbate the potholes problems because it keeps the water in liquid forn at a low temperature, thus making it expand inside, creating a weak patch, then creating water seeping into asphalt and makes it cracks. That is one of so many serious ones of what causes the potholes. There are of course other factors too.
Park roads are newly paved as of August 2020. More to come. https://www.phillyvoice.com/fdr-park-south-philadelphia-master-plan-renovation-renderings/
I have to agree with the majority here...potholes are rampant city wide...a perpetual niussance...I've only ever seriously damaged my car by hitting one on 95 though... actually pothole would be an understatement for that one, it was more like a crater...the bells and whistles started going off immediately as the tire deflated at about 70mph. Destroyed the rim and everything. It was bad. As for the park I'm under the impression that they'll be fixed relatively soon with the planned "revitalization" of FDR Park...but this IS Philly, so who knows how long that will actually take to get done.
I ride a Harley Davidson and I've had seriously close calls everywhere in the city. It's not always easy to see some of them. Then there are the holes that are actually made by utility workers that are very often not marked at all or very poorly marked. I'm talking about holes that are at least 8 inches deep and often going completely from one side of the street to the other I can't believe there haven't been numerous injuries. Irresponsible.
I don't know if you live in Philly, but potholes are EVERYWHERE on our streets. The hell with the park, I'd much rather have tax dollats going to our streets rather than a park I go to twice a year!
Pot hole city
I practices grow up down there, kinda my back yard . Last time I was there , was a flower show and people had looking out for mud holes. I hope FDR has improved since then around the waters edge there's a lot of depree (trash).
No known car damage but I know I cursed because of hitting one or more. I'm not a person who normally curses. ☹️☹️😡😡
Yes you are right I am there every day and the potholes are very bad
