Yes you can become an associate member. All you need to do is walk in and ask for an associate membership pass. Fill out the slip of paper with all information asked. You do not need to know a police officer personally to be a member. It cost $35 dollars for the membership FOR THE YEAR!! And pay an additional $10dollars for the car plaque. In a couple of weeks, less then 2, you'll get your plaque in the mail along with your membership card. And your good to go. You can then enjoy all the privileges of an FOP lodge.
If you know an officer that will sponsor you (officer signs your application) then you can get an associate membership. Assuming the process is still the same from when I joined.
