It's not the skate guards responsibility 2 watch ur child..they may assist ..but not the whole time..either the parent skates..put them in a skate class or go private w a coach
Yes, lessons are supposed to have right of way anywhere in the rink (that's basic protocol at any rink), but in public sessions most non-lesson skaters don't know this. The coaches do try to look out for their skaters though. If your child is new to skating, i would seriously consider doing a learn to skate package bc they will enjoy the rest of their skating so much more, and with their turning and stopping skills developed, it will be safer for them. If you are looking for a less crowded place, try City Ice in LIC. Same prices as world ice, but less crowded. They are only open to the public a few times a week though. They may still have room in a summer learn to skate series, but I'm not sure.
