There are tables and bbqs in the park for cooking. There is a pavillion you can rent for events. The park is a pack in pack out,and plastic trash bags are provided. This park is very clean that is why open pits would be a detriment to keeping it clean. It's not a campground. Very fun for swimming and a sandy beach. Many people bring their own shade and chairs. Also bring your water toys and floating rafts etc.
Where the venue was there were only few picnic tables with a few small barbecues put on post. Maybe you can get ahold of somebody through the Parks and recreation and ask them if they could possibly have any open pips like you're talking about. Hope this helps!
