do you need to take the ferry or am i able to get there by car? (any specific beach that is dog friendly?)

The private sections of F.I. have only sidewalks and bicycles, no cars. Dogs are required to be on leash, must take a ferry or boat

There is an ocean beach at SMITH'S POINT that you can get to by car It is a County beach parking is approximately $15 allso to the west is the federal park beach .there are no pets permitted at either beach.

You can drive to Robert Moses State Park. There's a few miles of beautiful beaches and you can walk to the lighthouse and beyond. That's the only place there are cars on the island

There is a bridge that takes you to paid parking. If there is a dog friendly area, my guess would be far east or west directly across from the parking area.
