It is not likely they test media, most thrift stores don't. Your lucky enough to have a dvd in the box. Always check for contents, and condition while browsing, or at the cashier. Mark -
I used to work for the company. They only test to see if it powers on and if they have a disc they will insert it to see if it engages but they usually don't have it hooked up to a TV. As for the actual DVD they check for scratches and if it isn't really bad they put it on the floor to sell. They don't test of it plays.
Some Goodwills empty all their DVD boxes and you get them at checkout
You can havr them hooknitnupnto abtv in the store to make sure it works.
They say they do but I havent bought one ftom there.
