I had no insurance at the time to cover me. I paid voutvof pocket. $2100 per eye.
Many insurances pay for cataract or other necessary surgery..check with your health insuance to see if it's totally covered or if there is some out of pocket cost. If you aren't insured check with a local help agency or center for visually impaired..cash would be pretty expensive
If you have medicare it will pay for it. I'm not sure with private insurance.
