While it would be great for a Walmart Super Center in Gettysburg and the corporate office was eyeing the abandoned Crystal Cadillac Dealership as the location for such Giant Market and Weis Market isn't going to want the grocery market competition and the private auto repair garages and dealerships are going to want competition from a Walmart Automotive Service Center. The lawn and garden center of the Gettysburg Walmart along with the new Tractor Supply Company of Gettysburg put the Agway Garden Center at Washington and Rail Road Streets in Gettysburg out of business. Again a Walmart Super Center would be great in Gettysburg but would likely be heavily opposed.
YES !!! And there's plenty of room to expand in that current location. I'm sick of driving 20 minutes to the Hanover WalMart when the Gettysburg WalMart is 5 minutes from my house. However, Gettysburg doesn't have room for the groceries, etc I need. Gettysburg needs to expand because it's losing millions in business to it's competition and most locals only go there when they don't have time to go anywhere else. That's why it's stocked with the most expensive groceries for the tourists. Gettysburg barely stock's Wal-Mart's brand of ANY groceries....They must expand if you want to get most of the locals shopping there.
An absolute YES!
Definitely
Yes, I would love for the Gettysburg location to be a Super Center - being someone on a fixed income, Walmart Super Centers have been where I can get certain groceries that I use a large quantity of (& others, of course) at such low prices that make what other grocery stores charge seem like outright robbery! Living in Fairfield, tis is the closest location & I can't get some of those items there, so I have to use extra gas & time to go to Waynesboro & sometimes even Chambersburg if I already have reason to be in that area. Anyway, having o travel to the locations that ARE Super Centers is a huge inconvenience & due to health issues, wears me out.
It's not up to Walmart it's up to the town of Gettysburg & their ordinance.
Would be nice but it's never going to happen.
Walmart super center's are found in larger towns and cities. Most of the people in Adams County are extremely conservative and do not want local (high) grocery prices driven down by a huge Walmart or an Aldi's store. That being said, Gettysburg has remained a small town, with it's beautiful historical look and history kept protected from billion dollar corporations that would love to turn it into a Pottersville. (It's A Wonderful Life)
Chambersburg has a Super Walmart and Target and a Giant and other competitive similar businesses so why can't they handle one here in Gburg?
No
Everyone I know goes to Hanover to shop. Get with it Gettysburg
Dont really care
False, there simply isn't enough real estate in that location to do such.
