There are better things to do with children, like the aquarium or the science center if you are just looking for activities
If they are into art, yes!
When I visited, museum had an activity booklet explaining a simple art history for kids. I played alone. It is fun.
There are mummies and African masks at BMA. And it is free.
I wouldn't say its the best place for children but my 5 and 2 year old do like going. Esp on sundays when they have the free art classes.
I'm sure there are children-focused components at the museum, but i could see children getting a bit bored. Port Discovery, the National Aquarium, or the MD Science Center would probably be more appropriate for a younger crowd. If you did want to try an art museum, you might start with the Walters Museum of Art, which has free admission.
