It depends on the insurance company and your contract with them. We have fixed cars up to 2 full years after the storm. It is a lot easier to get them to work with you if you are still with the same company AND if that company is a major carrier, not a small mom and pop company.
In most cases, insurance checks are valid for 180 days.
I did mine about a year and a half after a storm. Not sure what the statute is on filing a claim, however, Matt is right that the check the insurance company writes after you make a claim is usually valid for 180 days.
