Nope, me and my fiance did this a couple of weeks ago! It's all snorkeling! No one on our trip used the cage either, it was the most incredible thing I've ever seen in my life, I highly recommend it. We had about 15 bull sharks on our trip. They start off timid, but by the end, they were bumping into our flippers! I panicked initially when I entered the water as I was the first one in apart from the photographer and felt like I couldn't breathe because I had never used a snorkel before, but once I calmed down, it was amazing. I was the first one in and the last one out! I recommend using the provided wet suits though, not for the water because it was warm, but I opted not to use one and kept getting stung by clear jelly fish things.
You don't go in a cage unless you want to. They say more people get hurt by the cage then not having it. Meaning people hit up against the cage if they panick or when getting in or out of it. I just went with my husband at the end of April this time I went in the water. I also like Tabitha panicked and couldn't breathe right away but calmed down, I lasted 20 minutes in but decided to get out because the day we went the wind and current were very strong. We were surprised we still went on the trip but glad we did. We also did another trip last July. That first time I stayed on the boat. I highly recommend going. You don't have to be certified scuba because you snorkel instead. We had Alex and John as well. Two well knowledged professionals. Do it, enjoy, relax, and enjoy the reason you are there TO SEE SHARKS AND SWIM WITH THEM!
We did a trip with them just yesterday. They did not have any SCUBA gear, it was all snorkeling. They did have a cage on the boat but reccomend you not use it. There were 8 of us all together in the water including the captain and photographer. There was not a point when I felt unsafe and we were swimming very close to about 10 bull sharks. They keep the bait cage about 10 or 15 feet below we were swimming. It was a ton of fun and I highly reccomend it. Our captain's name was John and the photographer's name was Alex they were really good at making us all feel comfortable and were really informative with everyone's questions about the sharks.
No, you don't have to be certified
Do you actually get to touch the sharks a lot?
