If you dont make a reservation you may want to have a backup plan just in case. We went twice on our visit, on the first and last day of our trip. Sat inside and outside both are nice but prefer outside. Park on the street.
If you go during off hours, you don't need a reservation. Otherwise, you're gambling without one.

You usually sit outside without reservation, it's nice out there. I actually prefer the outside its much quieter. Definitely call to make sure there are available tables.
When we went there without a reservation last week we had to sit on at the bar, which was no big deal. Reservations are preferred per the hostess.
Depending on when you go and if you are either willing to wait or sit at the bar, you don't need reservations. I would recommended making reservations, but it may not be required.
