We do. Anything 10 years or newer we have to have a title. Older vehicles we do not have to have a title. For all vehicles we have to be able to read the VIN and run it through the NCDMV database. Do not put other scrap inside the vehicle you are selling. By signing the ticket at the end of the transaction you are claiming ownership and must defend your right to sell it should problems arise. If you can prove ownership with an old registration and drivers license you can often sell your car or truck for scrap without a title.Im not sure on abandoned vehicles. If the title is lost you must typically have your registration inorder to scrap a vehicle or some method to prove that you are the owner of the vehicle.
